WHOLE GIRL Live Vibrantly, Love Your Entire Self, and Make Friends With Food

AIRED: February 8, 2021

SPECIAL GUEST: Sadie Radinsky

“Girls are constantly being told, “Smile!” “Don’t eat so much!” “Quiet down.” The criticisms are endless. No wonder so many girls grow up feeling inadequate and silenced, believing they are not enough. What if young women had a book for themselves—written by someone like them, going through the same things as they are?

Whole Girl is written by Sadie Radinsky, an 18-year-old blogger and recipe creator who has touched the lives of girls and women worldwide with her award-winning website wholegirl.com. she gives unique and empowering ideas, advice, and practices for all young women to help them celebrate all of themselves. And with food always being an issue for young women, Sadie flips the unhealthy narrative around by encouraging us to love food and discover the joy of cooking with 45 gluten-free and paleo dessert recipes, each with mouthwatering photos.

Young women’s minds are overflowing with creativity, intellect, and new ideas. Sadie says, “We care passionately about issues, from global to personal. We are all different; each of us has completely unique abilities and personalities. All of this terrifies our society. They can’t handle us, in all our messy, diverse awesomeness. So they try to break us into pieces and put us in boxes. The messages are relentless: You’re not enough. You’re too much. Be quiet. Don’t make waves. Smile. Don’t eat too much. Don’t be so emotional.”

Sadie’s book reminds girls that they don’t need to accept the message “You’re incomplete” because deep down, she says, “we know that we’re already whole.” Whole Girl looks at girls’ wide range of moods in a new light, using them as fuel to power all different parts of their lives.
