Glen Zaugg - President and CEO of Heritage Schools in Provo UtahBy Saleem Rana

Allen Cardoza and Dr. Melody Foxx interviewed Glen Zaugg on L.A. Talk Radio about Heritage School. Students participate in annual stage musicals and receive professional direction, choreography and music coaching and instruction during the rehearsal process. What’s more, an average of 50 students participates in a full length Broadway production every year.
The use of performing arts as a therapeutic tool has proved highly successful. The residential treatment center helps adolescent boys and girls with serious mental health and education issues. Students with depression, anxiety, substance abuse, ADHD, and other mental health related disorders have experienced the therapeutic benefits through this unique program. Students report a significant boost in self-esteem, personal growth and improved social skills. The productions give them a sense of accomplishment because they are doing something they probably would not have the opportunity to do in a regular school.
The Heritage School is a beautiful, homelike 19-acre residential treatment center for at-risk adolescents. It is a serene setting for the unique Heritage relationship-based therapeutic program.
Heritage has recently opened the River Run Day Treatment program for Utah youth struggling with behavioral, emotional, or substance abuse issues. River Run Day Treatment is a non-profit adolescent day treatment program located at the base of the Wasatch Mountains in Provo, Utah. River Run is a unique relationship-based, family-driven program for adolescents who are struggling with a variety of mood disorders. The program is designed to help the student stabilize and refocus their attention in a positive direction. River Run provides structure and daily accountability through a full day of school, therapeutic recreation, and individual, group and family therapy.
Zaugg has been with Heritage Schools for over 18 years. He has extensive experience in administrating a treatment center for at-risk adolescents. He is also the current President of NATSAP (National Association of Therapeutic Schools and Programs). NATSAP has over 150 member organizations nationwide and has its headquarters in Maryland.
