Interview by Allen Cardoza and Dr Melody Foxx
What does it take to
be happy? How can you get on the path to happiness? These are some of the questions Carol Bettino addressed when she spoke on L.A. Talk Radio about her latest book, Directions: Your Roadmap to Happiness with Allen Cardoza and Dr. Melody Foxx, from Answers for the Family.
A Professional Guide
Bettino has had plenty of clinical experience contemplating the issue of happiness. She has worked as a Licensed Specialist Therapist for over 20 years with a private practice in Prescott, Arizona. Currently, she is also a part-time teacher at Yavapai Community College.
Prior to her recent book, she authored Better Choices, Better Life. In addition, she has been a radio talk show host on KFNX 1100AM and KQNA 1130AM and facilitated many seminars on mental health in Phoenix and Prescott.
Set Goals for Success and Happiness
If you want to reach your goals, she advised, pursue the necessary work and keep on studying ways to overpower hurdles. When something slows you down, move ahead with caution, but do not quit.
Overcoming Obstacles
She commented that one reason why people fail to achieve goals and attain success is that obstacles stop them. However, with a slight change in perspective, obstacles can give one insight and show you where you need to go. While we can’t always change events that stop us, we can change our perspectives while still validating our feelings. Changing perspectives can help us overcome obstacles.
Take HEART
Bettino also spelled out a formula for a happy relationship based on an acronym, the word HEART, where “H” stands for “honesty,” “E” for “equality,” “A” for “accountability,” “R” for “respect,” and “T” for “trust.” These are the six essential qualities necessary for effective and loving communication in a relationship.
Final Thoughts
The essence of Bettino’s message is that it is essential to your happiness and success that you don’t let anybody or anything stands in your way when it comes to living out your dreams. Don’t let something crucial to your success in life slip away, she counseled.
