Researchers at The New School in New York City have found evidence that literary fiction improves a reader’s capacity to understand what others are thinking and feeling.

What made the writing of Dennis Palumbo’s novels so engaging was the weaving together of aspects of his clinical training at a psychiatric facility, his current experience in private practice treating the Hollywood elite, and the police procedural details of a mystery thriller that challenges the mind to find solutions. Palumbro believes this unique combination of elements, when properly executed, can have a positive impact “empathetically” on the reader.

His popular series of mystery thrillers featuring Daniel Rinaldi, a psychologist and trauma expert, include: Mirror Image, Fever Dream, Night Terrors and his recently released Phantom Limb. Join us for a memorable interview with Dennis Palumbro and learn why so much of the population enjoys thrillers, and how to identify the those that do us harm and ones actually can be beneficial to the human psyche.
