Saving Our Pennys isa non-fiction work that allows each one of us to find purpose in each day. Mentors are all around us and are often the catalyst we need for attaining perspective. One teacher, who is having a life crisis, searches to find answers to questions he thought were once answered.
This teacher slowly learns that the magic of life can be found through a labyrinth of crowded classrooms and hallways, the simplicity and wonder of nature and family, which ultimately unveil the face of hope through a most unexpected source – his student! Saving Our Pennys re-ignites the fire in our hearts through hope and caring, and reveals the incredible power of our intentions.
ABOUT ROY DIMOND
Roy Dimond, was not always a writer. For most of his adult life he was a Youth Worker, meaning that he worked with families that were struggling, or children who were having a hard time. Roy was also a Parenting Worker, assisting adults to learn new skills. These were professions that were both rewarding and heart breaking. In the thirty years that he was a Youth Worker, he learned that no matter how difficult life is, if one can answer, ‘who am I’ and ‘what do I believe in’ then the lessons that the universe is teaching will be learned. That led him on a journey half way around the world and back. When he returned — he began writing.
Roy has written, The Singing Bowl. A novel of one man’s search for a book lost to the world. The Rubicon Effect, is a novel about humanity being forced by the End times to discover if they are driven by hope or fear. And Saving Our Pennys, his first work of non-fiction is a story of one person’s struggle to find a better life and the mentor that he finds along the way.
ABOUT JEFF LEITCH
Jeff Leitch, is a teacher of eighteen years in Coquitlam, British Columbia. Jeff first met Roy during his teaching practicum in University when Roy spoke to aspiring teachers about the profession. Saving Our Pennys is his first novel, which he is extremely proud to say that he co-authored with his great friend and educational mentor – Roy Dimond.
Jeff also is proud to have a story based on his teaching in the well-known series, Chicken Soup for the Soul: Children With Special Needs. The short story is titled, Toss of a Coin.
