SPECIAL GUEST: Bridgit Dengel Gaspard
Author and therapist Bridgit Dengel Gaspard coined the term “the final 8th” to describe this phenomenon when talented, energetic, motivated individuals have accomplished many steps toward a goal (7/8 of it) but stall in front of their finish line, for no apparent reason.
In The Final 8th: Enlist Your Inner Selves to Accomplish Your Goals, Bridgit offers a powerful technique called voice dialogue to help readers recognize and free themselves from hidden internal conflicts that are blocking their ability to achieve their goals.
“My clients were baffled about why they were stuck. They reported feeling frustrated, stressed, sad, and scared. I’d tell them, “The truth is, not every part of you wants what you think you want! Some of your inner selves are opposed to your goal.”
The Final 8th guides readers through the process of identifying and speaking with their inner selves to uncover their secret intentions and figure out which of them support their goals and which are impeding it, and then how to speak with those alter egos to enlist their help in achieving the goal. The process Bridgit offers in the book also helps readers learn to spot and discard the negative beliefs that are holding them back.
“You will discover which personas are clinging to these beliefs and imprisoning you,” writes Bridgit. “Gaining this knowledge, resolving the dilemma within, and discovering your creative, brave, resourceful team of inner selves boosts the vitality you need to fulfill your cherished goal and cross the finish line.”
