SPECIAL GUEST: Dr. Nancy Sobel – Licensed Psychologist; Co-founded of the Global Adolescent Project and Boarding House Mentors
Allen and Melody are joined by Dr. Nancy Sobel the co-founder of the Global Adolescent Project, a non-profit project in Haiti that relocates adolescent orphans from the dangers of displaced persons camps and tent living into safe housing. The mission is to educate, encourage resilience and empower disenfranchised youth globally.
In addition to safe housing, the project pays school tuition, provides mental health services and provides microloans and training for small local business development.

Dr. Nancy R. Sobel is a licensed psychologist in private practice in West Los Angeles, CA. She works with individuals, couples, families, and groups. Dr. Sobel specializes in the treatment of trauma, compulsive disorders and addictions and has consulted in the development of treatment programs throughout the United States and abroad.
She is widely known for her work in the entertainment industry and has developed a unique style of therapy for musicians and artists who spend large amounts of time on the road. She incorporates adventure therapy in her work which includes equine assisted therapy, ropes courses and an original workshop called mindful surfing based on her own experience of lessons learned from the ocean.
Dr. Sobel has been involved in the nonprofit world since age thirteen when she worked in recreation programs for physically challenged children. She designed the clinical portion of MusiCares, a charity for impaired musicians funded in association with the National Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences and also is on the board of Boarding House Mentors, a surf and environmental awareness program for inner city adolescents here in Los Angeles.
