TITLE: “They Made Me Do It: Life in A Cult”
SPECIAL GUEST: Elle Benét
Miscarriage. Divorce. Foreclosure. These are a few of the challenges Elle Benét faced years after leaving the religious cult in which she had spent her childhood. “They Made Me Do It” depicts personal accounts of how a young woman used these life challenges to come out on top. Her mission? To use her struggles as a catalyst to inspire others.
“They Made Me Do It” incorporates positive passages to illustrate how Benét uses these negative experiences to create an amazing future. “I chose to make my life journey an open book in the event it could inspire someone facing their own challenges in life,” said Benét. “To show them there is light at the end of the tunnel and to not give up on your dreams and goals.”
Potential interview topics include: Life in A Cult, Coping with Miscarriage, Coming Out On Top After a Divorce, How Positive Thinking Can Transform Your Life.
Elle Benet lived in a cult for the first 18 years of her life. After a failed marriage, Benet began a journal about being raised in a cult and the life challenges that followed after she escaped, which included a miscarriage, divorce and a foreclosure. As a way of healing, she began searching for the positive that could be gleaned from her adversities. Years later, Benet converted her journal into a memoir as she wanted to inspire others to realize there is no goal too distant that one cannot achieve. Benét currently resides in Washington D.C with her two children. ‘They Made Me Do It’ is her first book.
