Thirteen million Americans suffer from Posttraumatic Stress. Veterans, soldiers, victims of domestic violence and terrorism all know its effects.

The Oprah Winfrey Show featured Lynnie Vessels in 1994, and inspired the writing TO SOFTEN THE BLOW. It is a must read for anyone with posttraumatic stress disorder, a great resource for educators and counselors. This powerful book will change the way you view your world.

In TO SOFTEN THE BLOW, Lynnie Vessels details her battles with her demons in the most instructive way a book has yet to do. As a warrior replaces the victim in her, she comes to understand the spiritual implications of violence. Today, Lynnie Vessels is not merely a survivor; she thrives!  She spares herself nothing to lay bare the recovery process in a way not previously seen in print. Her candid stories captivate like a novel and inspire readers to bravely begin their own healing process.

TO SOFTEN THE BLOW, is a roadmap to healing for suffering of all kinds – alcoholism, mental illness, physical abuse… 100% relevant for our time… this book takes you step-by-step, through the courageous, often messy, and sometimes harrowing journey of recovery.

Lynnie shows the reader the level of persistent dedication required to coax oneself from the darkness to light, offering a roadmap and multiple light bulb moments that will begin changing their life before they even put it down. If you liked The Glass Castle and Eat, Pray, Love, you will love, TO SOFTEN THE BLOW!
