Caelan Kubanby Allen Cardoza

The Director of The National Institute for Trauma and Loss in Children TLC, Caelan Kuban, recently joined Allen Cardoza and Dr. Melody Foxx on L.A. Talk Radio to discuss trauma in children.

Topics discussed included how a teen can be potentially exposed to trauma and the differences between grief and trauma. The interview also discussed why trauma should be considered a sensory experience rather than a diagnosis.

Parents and other adults can help children and youth following a traumatic experience. Kuban provided essential therapeutic information about how they can help children and youth who have experienced, or are currently experiencing, a traumatic life situation.

A program of the Starr Institute for Training, The National Institute for Trauma and Loss in Children (TLC), provides training across the country to professionals working with traumatized children and families. Kuban, LMSW, has been called an excellent teacher and passionate trainer providing workshops where participants leave feeling energized and inspired to work with at-risk and traumatized youth.

Creating environments where children can flourish is part of the mission of The National Institute for Trauma and Loss in Children (TLC). The organization works to bring out the best in every traumatized child.

Over 50,000 trauma professionals have been trained by TLC since 1990. Thousands of enthusiastic professionals and clients have given testimony.

Certified Trauma and Loss School Specialists and Clinical Specialists provide TLC interventions and resources to children, adolescents, families, schools and other organizations every day. In fact, more than 5,000 TLC interventions occur each day.

Published evidence-based research outcomes support the value of TLC school and agency based programs.

Traditional cognitive therapies did not understand the role of childhood trauma as the root cause of behavior issues until TLC identified it in 1990.

TLC training programs are in place in more than 3,000 places, including schools, community-based programs, treatment centers and childcare facilities across North America and overseas.
