Allen Cardoza and Dr. Melody Foxx, the Answers for the Family radio show hosts on L.A. talk radio, discussed with guest, Chris Salmone, how our best America is only a generation away.
Salmone, the author of Rescue America, talked about how America’s founding fathers shaped America’s values by defining America as a country that would champion life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.
These values catapulted America into the role of world leader amongst nations and it gave rise to the greatest country ever seen on the face of the earth. Consequently, America enticed millions of immigrants to leave the comforts and security of their homelands for the promise of hope, opportunity, and a new political liberty the world had never before known.
While the passion and hard work of the early immigrants created the foundations of America, this value was also prevalent after America survived the Great Depression and World War II. The gratitude for the end of these times of struggle and sacrifice unleashed an entrepreneurial spirit that created unparalleled prosperity and spawned the greatest generosity ever exhibited by a nation or its citizens.
“Rescue America” creates clear and convincing argument between the loss of our founding values and the current political, economic, and cultural problems.
What is necessary, Salmone said on the radio show, is a return to our core values, the values of gratitude, personal responsibility, and sacrifice, because these values created America’s greatness.
Americans, he warned, had drifted to creating two negative attitudes that were ruining the country. They blamed others instead of taking personal responsibility for change. They also had a sense of entitlement for getting things that had not been earned.
Salmone said that our best America is only a generation away if we take notice of the gratitude immigrants feel when they become naturalized and feel that same sense of appreciation for being born here. He also pointed out that psychological studies had shown that returning to family dinners had a profound effect on raising healthy, intelligent, and well-behaved children, the future generation of Americans. In addition, parents should return to teaching children the value of gratitude, sacrifice, and self-reliance.
