The Washington Post reports that the average teen spends more than 7 ½ hours a day on technology. This means they are spending those 7 ½ hours a day without any “in person” communication which leads to feeling isolated even though they may be in constant contact with their peers through texting, social media, or online gaming. This ongoing isolation is causing depression, anxiety and other emotional disorders at rates we’ve never seen before.

Lisa Smith, co-founder of Save My Family Today, provides insight into this alarming phenomenon and her experience working with families navigating the rough waters of emotional instability.

A not-to-be-missed show, join us as Lisa also describes for our listeners how her organization’s work with families in crisis, families with young children, teens, and women achieves the compassionate communication flow needed to “reconnect the disconnect”,  a process that makes way for healthier, more balanced relationships and smoother sailing into the future.

ABOUT LISA SMITH

Our guest, Lisa Smith, has over 20 years of experience, a Master’s degree and credential in Counseling as well as an Administration Services credential.   She has completed over 2,000 intervention home visits while working with youth and families.

After teaching for several years and directing one of the largest after school programs for at-risk kids, she became the Intervention Counselor at a large urban high school in Southern California.  It was here that she found her passion in helping families come together, heal their relationships and overcome their challenges together.

Lisa founded Save My Family Today, a service in which her and her coaching partner, Lisa Strong, provide in-home coaching services to families in Los Angeles and Orange County.  As a family coach she helps struggling families learn to communicate more effectively, gain better understanding of each other, reduce tension and have more emotionally intimate relationships.  She is also a public speaker and teaches parenting classes throughout Southern California.
